Amnesty International condemns “deliberate killing” of journalists in Gaza

GAZA, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Amnesty International on Monday condemned what it described as the “deliberate killing” of journalists by Israeli occupation forces following an airstrike targeting a media tent near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, killing journalist Anas al-Sharif and five of his colleagues.

In a statement, the organization said the six journalists were “the eyes and voices of Gaza” and bravely continued to cover the field despite hunger and exhaustion. It emphasized that the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip represents the deadliest modern conflict for journalists, with the number of journalists killed rising to 238 since the start of the offensive.

Amnesty International called for an independent and impartial investigation into the killing of Palestinian journalists to ensure justice and reparations for the families of the victims. It called on the international community to take urgent action to stop the genocide being perpetrated by Israeli occupation forces against civilians in Gaza.
