CAIRO, Aug. 09 (YPA) – Al-Azhar Al-Sharif strongly condemned on Saturday the brutal Israeli decision to occupy the Gaza Strip and completely seize its territory.
In a statement, Al-Azhar considered the decision a desperate attempt to prolong the war and escape failure.
The statement affirmed that the unjust decision represented conclusive evidence to seek the occupation to erase Palestine from existence, obliterate its features from the world map, and swallow up what remains of its land by force of arms and terrorism.
It stressed that this decision came amid an indelible stain on the brow of international institutions unable to confront this crime, calling for an end to the tragic policies of the occupation, which are based on arrogance and violence, show contempt for peoples, flout all international conventions, laws, and resolutions, as well as to insist on committing more massacres and violations against the Palestinian people.
The statement also called for the concerted efforts of all Arab, Islamic, and international powers, and for intensified political, diplomatic, and legal pressure to halt this major historical tragedy and this unprecedented act of chaos in human history.
It also called on all Arab, Islamic, and international powers to stand firmly against the occupier’s attempts to drag the entire region toward chaos and collapse.
Earlier, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif had deleted a statement expressing solidarity with Gaza from its official Facebook page in late July, shortly after posting it, which had sparked widespread anger and questions on social media.
