Saudi-led coalition tanks participate in suppressing demonstrators in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, Aug. 02 (YPA) – Tanks from the First Military Region loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in Hadramout province, eastern Yemen, intervened on Saturday to suppress popular protests in the province demanding improved electricity and living conditions.

A local source reported that the pro-coalition forces used tanks to disperse protesting citizens in the Al-Qatn area after they blocked the road with stones and burning tires.

The protesters were surprised by the use of tanks and military vehicles, along with gunfire, which caused the participants to flee. The use of tanks was seen as evidence of the failure of the pro-coalition authorities to improve services and alleviate the electricity crisis.

The protests have been ongoing for seven days, resulting in two deaths and more than ten injuries, in addition to the kidnapping of dozens and their transfer to the UAE-backed factions’ prisons at Al-Rayyan Airport and elsewhere.
