SAADA, July 29 (YPA) – A Yemeni citizen was killed, and six others were seriously injured due to brutal torture by Saudi army forces in the Jizan region of Saudi Arabia following their arrest.
The victims, seven citizens from the Dhaher and Haidan districts of Yemen’s Saada province, were subjected to direct burning and flogging in degrading and inhumane ways, according to local sources in the Dhaher district.
The sources reported that one citizen died of torture, while six others still suffer from severe injuries as a result of the brutal practices they were subjected to at the hands of Saudi soldiers.
The families and relatives of the victims considered this crime “evidence of the aggressive nature of the Saudi army and its brutal treatment of the Yemeni people,” pointing to “thousands of crimes and violations committed against the people of the border areas” by Saudi forces.
For its part, the Human Rights Sector in Saada condemned this “brutal crime,” describing it as a “flagrant violation of human rights.” The sector held “the Saudi regime criminally, legally, and humanitarianly responsible for this crime, as well as all its previous crimes against the Yemeni people.”
