GAZA, July 27 (YPA) – Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) accused on Sunday the Israeli occupation authorities of continuing to ignore their humanitarian responsibilities towards the residents of the Gaza Strip.
Head of the MSF’s regional media office, Inas Abu Al-Khalaf, said the occupation has been stubbornly ignoring its moral duty toward Gaza, despite repeated international warnings about the repercussions of the ongoing blockade, amid a worsening humanitarian disaster threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians, especially children.
“One in four children in the Gaza Strip suffers from malnutrition, some of them are at critical stages that directly threaten their lives.” Abu Al-Khalaf emphasized that the health system in Gaza is being collapsed, while international institutions stand “helpless or complicit.”
The MSF official called on the international community to take urgent action and pressure the occupation to lift restrictions on the entry of humanitarian and medical aid and open the crossings to urgent relief.
He stressed that “international silence is no longer justified in light of this ongoing tragedy.”
The Gaza Strip is being experienced one of the worst humanitarian crises in its history, due to the suffocating blockade and ongoing aggression, which has led to the collapse of the food and healthcare systems and increased rates of hunger and malnutrition, particularly among children and infants.
