Indonesia calls for recognition of Palestine such as France

SANAA, July 26 (YPA) – Indonesia welcomed, on Saturday, French President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to recognize Palestine, calling on other countries that have not yet done so to do the same.

This came in a post on the Indonesian Foreign Ministry’s X platform account, after Macron announced last Thursday that his country would recognize the State of Palestine.

The Indonesian Foreign Ministry stressed that President Macron’s decision is important for the prosperity and independence of Palestine.

“Indonesia calls on other countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to follow France’s example,” the ministry added.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Thursday that his country will recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly in New York next September.

Macron said, via the X platform: “Fulfilling its historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, France has decided to recognize the State of Palestine.”

149 countries out of 193 members of the United Nations recognize the State of Palestine.
