STC forces expel “parliamentary” committee in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, July 21 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s security forces surrounded on Monday the residence of a parliamentary oversight committee in the Mukalla city of Hadramout province.

According to concordant parliamentary and local sources in the city, the security forces prevented the committee’s members from continuing their work or leaving the hotel.

The sources explained that the committee arrived in the city on an official mission within the framework of the so-called House of Representatives, to follow up on service and oversight issues related to government performance there.

The sources added that the elements demanded that the members of the committee should leave the city immediately, which parliamentarians considered an assault on the state’s constitutional institutions and an undermining of oversight work.
