At least 360 medical personnel arrested in Gaza since Oct 7

GAZA, July 14 (YPA) – At least 360 medical personnel have been arrested since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on Oct 7,2023, the Gaza-based Ministry of Health said on Monday in a news conference.

The ministry called on the relevant authorities to urgently intervene to criminalize the occupation’s practices against the detained medical personnel and pressure to release them.

It pointed out that the medical personnel imprisoned in the occupation’s prisons have been living under “tragic and difficult conditions”.

In the same context, the ministry stated: “The female lawyer for the prisoner, Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, described his health condition as critical due to the deliberate denial of medical treatment, adding, according to her last visit, the brutality to which the doctor is subjected during interrogation and to continuous beatings.

According to the lawyer, Dr. Abu Safia, who has been detained since December 27 of last year, has lost 40 kg and suffers from high blood pressure and a weak heart muscle.

These developments come after escalating Israeli violations against Gaza’s health sector, amid international silence and continued disregard for calls to release imprisoned medical personnel and halt their targeting.
