OCCUPIED PALESTINE, July 08 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation military announced Tuesday morning that five soldiers from the Netzah Yehuda Battalion were killed and 14 others wounded—two of them critically—following a roadside bombing in the town of Beit Hanoun, in the northern Gaza Strip, late Monday night.
According to Israeli Occupation Army Radio, a total of four improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were reportedly detonated in succession, first striking the initial armored vehicle, followed by two more blasts targeting the incoming rescue teams.
Moreover, Palestinian Resistance fighters are said to have opened fire with live ammunition, inflicting further casualties.
The attack took place on Monday night around 10 p.m. near the town of Beit Hanoun.
According to a preliminary investigation by the military’s Southern Command, soldiers from the Netzah Yehuda Battalion of the Kfir Brigade were moving on foot in an area where Israeli tanks and engineering vehicles were operating when a series of explosive devices detonated.
This marks one of the deadliest single incidents for Israeli forces in weeks, amid ongoing clashes and military operations throughout the Gaza Strip.
Since the start of the Israeli ground invasion of Gaza in late 2023, 446 Israeli soldiers have been killed, according to the military. A total of 888 soldiers have died since the beginning of the war. Thirty-nine of those deaths have occurred since the last hostage release deal.
