Palestinian player dies in Israeli bombing of Gaza

OCCUPIED QUDS, July 03 (YPA) – Muhannad Fadl al-Lay, a player for the Al-Maghazi Services Club and the Palestine national team, died on Thursday from injuries sustained in an Israeli airstrike on his home in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

The club announced the player’s death on Facebook, describing him as a heroic martyr.

The bombing that targeted his family home injured Muhannad a few days ago, but he later succumbed to his injuries. Al-Lay is a prominent player for the Al-Maghazi Services Club and a former member of the Palestine national team.

Two days ago, the Palestinian Football Association confirmed the death of Mustafa Abu Amireh, who played for several clubs in Gaza, as a result of another airstrike.

By last June, the association had documented the deaths of 785 athletes and administrators since the start of the Gaza war.
