LAHJ, July 03 (YPA) – Media activist Raouf Al-Subaihi was kidnapped, on Thursday, from inside the headquarters of the Public Prosecution Office affiliated with the coalition in Lahj Governorate, southern Yemen.
Hind Al-Amoudi, Vice President of the Transitional Council’s Journalists’ Syndicate in Lahj, confirmed that armed elements arbitrarily arrested Al-Subaihi while he was at the Public Prosecution Office, based on directives from the coalition-affiliated Lahj Governor, Ahmed Al-Turki, and he was then returned to a prison in the city.
In a post on Facebook, she attributed the reasons for Al-Subaihi’s arrest to the publication of scandals of the horrific corruption plaguing various institutions in Lahj, which angered Al-Turki, who directed that his detention be extended based on the publications.
Al-Amoudi demanded the immediate release of activist Raouf Al-Subaihi and an end to any arbitrary practices against activists in Lahj.
