German official calls for imposing ban on arms exports to “Israel”

BARLIN, June 29 (YPA) – Leader of the German Green Party, Franziska Brantner, called for imposing a ban on arms exports to “Israel” that could be used in the Gaza Strip.

“The violation of international obligations in this case is so blatant that the German government must be clear,” Brantner told the German Press Agency on Saturday.”No more German weapons that could be used in Gaza may be delivered, because there is a risk that this would constitute a violation of international law.”

Brantner noted that more than 400 people were killed while trying to obtain food for their families in the Gaza Strip. There are “serious allegations that soldiers were ordered to shoot unarmed people near distribution points, even if there was no threat.”

According to the Geneva-based UN Human Rights Office, at least 410 people have been killed during food distribution operations in Gaza since the end of May. A spokesperson for the office stated that “these cases were attacks launched by Israeli forces.”
