HADRAMOUT, May 27 (YPA) – A total of 587 suspected dengue cases and three deaths, most of them children and the elderly, have been recorded since the beginning of the year in Hadramout province, according to a medical report on Tuesday.
The death toll from epidemic diseases in the city of Mukalla and other districts of the Emirati-backed factions-held Hadramout Coast mounted 600, including deaths and injuries, in a shocking indicator of the deteriorating health system and the lack of medical care.
The sources attributed the outbreak of epidemics to the complete collapse of health facilities and the absence of epidemic prevention and awareness programs, particularly among the most vulnerable groups, such as children and the elderly, who suffer from a severe decline in medical services.
Epidemics has been continuing to claim the lives of people in oil-rich Hadramout, Aden, and other southern provinces, amid the absence of any intervention by the coalition-affiliated Aden government, further increasing the risk of a health catastrophe.
