UAE-backed STC abducts photojournalist covering women’s protest in Aden

ADEN, May 24 (YPA) – Elements of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias abducted a photojournalist on Saturday afternoon while he was covering a women’s protest in Al-Oroudh Square in the city of Aden.

According to sources in the city, the STC forces were heavily deployed in the Khormaksar area to block women from reaching the square. They kidnapped photographer Hussein Belhasib and took him to an unknown location.

The sources added that the STC faction leaders have intensified their crackdown on women protesters demanding that the Saudi-led coalition restore electricity and water services to alleviate the worsening living conditions in Aden.

They further explained that the abduction of Belhasib is part of a systematic campaign of kidnappings carried out by the STC forces targeting activists and public figures involved in the ongoing protests denouncing the deterioration of living and service conditions in the city over recent weeks.
