Stanford University students continue their hunger strike in support of Gaza

WORLD, May 24 (YPA) -More than 20 students and faculty are participating in a hunger strike that has been ongoing since May 12, aiming to bring attention to the risk of famine in Gaza after a 70-day Israeli blockade of humanitarian aid.

During the strike, the students have presented a list of demands, including calling for Stanford to divest from companies linked to Israel’s war in Gaza, such as Chevron and Lockheed Martin.

The students affirmed that they will continue their strike until the university administration responds to their demands.

A strike participant, who requested to be identified only by her first name for fear of personal retaliation, said “We’re here to push our university to stop funding the genocide in Palestine and to end its investments that help Israel kill and starve thousands of Palestinians, and uphold a blockade threatening the lives of 14,000 children.”

Stanford University students joined a hunger strike taking place on campuses nationwide, in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, who are enduring US-backed genocide.
