China conducts joint maneuvers with Cambodia

BEIJING, May 14 (YPA) – Cambodia and China began the largest-ever joint military exercises on Wednesday.

During the exercises, about 900 Chinese soldiers and over 1,300 Cambodian soldiers participated in the maneuvers, which will continue until May 28, according to a statement from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

The advanced Chinese military equipment, including armored vehicles, helicopters, warships, reconnaissance drones, and combat robotic dogs, were used in the maneuvers, the statement added.

Cambodia has long been a key ally of China, receiving billions of dollars in investment, while Washington has expressed concerns that Beijing will use a renovated Cambodian naval base in the Gulf of Thailand to expand its influence in the region.
