50 children die of hunger in Gaza, 60,000 others suffer from acute malnutrition

GAZA, April 26 (YPA) – At least 52 deaths due to starvation have been recorded in the Gaza Strip, including 50 children, while more than 60,000 children suffer from severe malnutrition in the Strip, according to medical and security reports issued on Friday.

Amid deteriorating humanitarian and security conditions, Doctors Without Borders confirmed a sharp increase in the number of people suffering from burns since the Israeli forces resumed their military operations on March 18.

The organization explained in a statement that patients in Gaza do not receive sufficient food due to scarcity of supplies, which hinders their recovery and increases their suffering.

The organization revealed that its medical staff had performed more than a thousand surgeries on burn victims since May 2024, 70% of whom were children.

The blockade has devastated the lives of 2.2 million people

For its part, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights warned of the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza for 18 months, noting that the comprehensive blockade has destroyed the lives of 2.2 million people and exacerbated the severity of the disaster.

At the field level, the Israeli aggression targeted the Al-Shuja’iya neighborhood, east of Gaza, resulting in a number of casualties who were transferred to Al-Shifa Medical Complex, while the citizen Hani Al-Zaq Abu Eyada was martyred as a result of the same bombing.

The Israeli occupation forces also launched intense artillery shelling and fired smoke bombs and bursts of fire from their military vehicles east of the town of Abasan Al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.

Medical sources announced the death of 12 people in Israeli raids targeting various areas of Gaza since dawn today, while Palestinian media reported that the death toll had risen to 14 people in the ongoing bombing until Friday evening.
