US dollar exchange rate exceeds barrier of 2,500 Yemeni riyal in Aden

SANAA, April 22 (YPA) – The city of Aden and the provinces of southern and eastern Yemen have witnessed, in recent hours, a significant deterioration in the value of the local currency, coinciding with a sharp rise in foreign exchange rates, as the dollar exceeded the 2,500 Yemeni riyal barrier.

According to the latest exchange rate updates today, Tuesday, the selling price of the dollar in Aden reached 2,506 riyals and the buying price 2,480 riyals, while the price of the Saudi riyal reached 657 riyals for sale and 652 riyals for purchase, with an increase of 31 riyals to the dollar and 8 riyals to the Saudi riyal within 24 hours.

Observers have warned of an economic crisis in Aden as a result of fluctuations in exchange rates and the collapse of the currency and their negative effects on the lives of citizens, who suffer from poverty and deteriorating social conditions due to the corruption of the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.

In Sanaa, exchange rates were not affected thanks to the Central Bank’s measures to maintain their stability.

According to today’s Central Bank circular, the currency selling rates were as follows:

Saudi Riyal = 140 Yemeni Riyals,

US Dollar = 530.50 Yemeni Riyals,

US Dollar = 3.79 Saudi Riyals.
