Assassination attempt on leader in STC factions in Abyan leaves several injured

ABYAN, April 16 (YPA) – Several associates of a prominent leader within the factions of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) were injured during an assassination attempt in the Lawdar district of Abyan province, southern Yemen.

Media sources reported that unidentified gunmen on Tuesday set up an armed ambush targeting the car of Abdullah Abu Arab, the commander of the “Security Belt” factions in the central region of Abyan, with a barrage of bullets as it was passing through the Al-Ain area southwest of Lawdar, which led to it overturning.

The sources indicated that several of Abu Arab’s companions sustained injuries, including two who are in critical condition, while not providing additional details regarding the leader’s health status.

The injured were taken to Lawdar Hospital for treatment, and as of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
