Protest by four universities organized in front of gate of coalition camp in Aden

ADEN, April 14 (YPA) – Dozens of academics from the universities of Aden, Lahj, Abyan, and Shabwa held a protest in front of the headquarters of the coalition forces in the center of Aden, southern Yemen, to demand the improvement of their conditions and the protection of the lands of the universities of Aden and Lahj.

In a statement issued on Monday, the protesters, who gathered in front of the gate of the coalition camp in Mansoura, called on the coalition countries to assume their full responsibility and listen to the call of their consciences in meeting their demands.

The protesters said that the salary of university professors has deteriorated and has become between 200 and 400 Saudi riyals, calling for urgent and responsible intervention by the coalition with the coalition-affiliated government to do justice to teachers and academics and restore the dignity of academics.

The protesters also demanded that the coalition raise the salaries of university professors and fix them at their equivalent in Saudi riyals, at a minimum of 1,000 Saudi riyals per month.

They called on the coalition to pressure the government to implement the unions’ demands and regularly disburse salaries from the first item, work to disburse lands for faculty members and university employees, protect the campuses of Aden and Lahj universities, improve various public services, and develop solutions for the collapse of the currency.
