DAMASCUS, Mar. 04 (YPA) – Israeli occupation warplanes launched a new attack on Monday targeting military sites near the Syrian port of Tartous on the Mediterranean Sea.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that an explosion occurred in the vicinity of the port of the coastal city of Tartous, coinciding with an intense flight of military aircraft. It explained that the explosion came after citizens received text messages warning them to stay away from areas where “terrorists” are present.
In a related context, the Israeli army issued a statement confirming that it launched an airstrike on the Qardaha area in western Syria, targeting a military site that the statement indicated “was used to store weapons of the former Syrian regime.”
The statement added that the attack came in light of the recent security developments in the region, stressing that Israel will continue to monitor the situation and take the necessary measures to protect its citizens.
According to statistics from the Syrian Observatory, Israeli aircraft have carried out 19 airstrikes inside Syrian territory since the beginning of this year, resulting in the destruction and injury of approximately 21 military sites.
