Memorial service held in Washington for US soldier rejecting Israeli crimes

WASHINGTON, Feb. 26 (YPA) – Dozens gathered in Washington to hold a memorial service for Aaron Bushnell, the American soldier who set himself on fire to avoid being complicit in the genocide that American-backed Israeli occupation committed in Gaza.

Several activists documented, in a memorial rally, the participation of dozens of the participants in front of the Israeli embassy and the White House in Washington to mourn Bushnell, who sacrificed his life to stop the genocide against the Palestinian people.
They laid flowers and lit candles to mourn the American soldier.

In February 2024, Bushnell headed to the Tel Aviv embassy in Washington, and upon his arrival, he poured gasoline on his head and set himself on fire while shouting “Freedom for Palestine.

Before setting himself on fire, Bushnell said outside the embassy: “I will have a very violent protest now, but my protest is not big compared to what the Palestinians are experiencing at the hands of their occupiers.”
