ADEN, Feb. 24 (YPA) – Informed sources revealed new details on Monday regarding the assassination of Mohammed Jamal, the personal bodyguard of the director of the office of the prime minister loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, in the center of Aden city in southern Yemen.
According to the sources, Jamal was killed after receiving a phone call while he was at his home in the Ghazi Alwan neighborhood in the Al-Arish area, where he left for the Al-Mansoura district.
The sources explained that the victim, aged 35, arrived at the Suzuki roundabout area on the Al-Malah road, where he was assassinated near a military checkpoint belonging to the UAE-Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces.
The sources suggested that the reason for targeting Jamal was due to his association with leaking documents revealing land looting operations in Aden, which link some leaders of the STC to the matter. They also indicated that Jamal was one of the people close to Anis Baharitha, director of the prime minister’s office and head of the Land Authority in Aden.
It is noteworthy that the assassination was carried out by unknown gunmen who were riding in a minibus of “Foxy” type in the early hours of dawn. The victim was shot in the back and lodged in his heart, while the attackers looted all his personal belongings, including a ring he was wearing.
