Son of Marib sheikh injured in assassination attempt in Amman

AMMAN, Feb. 08 (YPA) -A son of one of the sheikhs of Marib was injured on Friday, as a result of an attempted assassination in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

Political sources reported that ‘Abdulaziz,’ the son of Sheikh Nasser Ali bin Awshan Al-Obeidi from Marib, was stabbed multiple times by two unknown individuals, after which he was transferred to a hospital for treatment, according to political activist Ali Al-Nasi.

It was noted that ‘Abdulaziz’s father is a leading figure among the sheikhs of the Obeida tribe in Marib.

He played a key role in establishing tribal councils that successfully halted the rise in oil prices and advocated for the rights of the tribe to the oil and gas resources, which were being exploited by Islah party and other parties loyal to Saudi-led coalition forces during 2022.
