STC factions kidnap prominent academic from Abyan university, take him to prison in Aden

ABYAN, Feb. 03 (YPA) – The UAE-backed STC factions kidnapped a prominent academic at Abyan University and forcibly deported him to one of its prisons in the city of Aden, southern Yemen.

Local sources reported that elements of the so-called “counter-terrorism” funded by the UAE, kidnapped Ibrahim Ayesh, a professor of Islamic studies at Abyan University and imam of the Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib Mosque in the city of Jaar, without any justified legal reasons.

The sources pointed out that the kidnapping was carried out on the grounds of suspicions regarding the relationship between Ayesh’s son, who is being held by the elements, and terrorist elements.

For its part, the presidency of Abyan University expressed its shock and condemnation of the incident, noting that the governor of Abyan made it clear that the issue had become outside the scope of his authority after Ayesh was transferred to Aden.

The operation sparked widespread anger among academic circles and members of the local community, who strongly condemned the measures and described them as a blatant violation of rights, calling on the Transitional Council to immediately release Ayesh.
