Aden faces complete electricity halt within 24 hours due to fuel shortage

ADEN, Feb. 01 (YPA) – Aden Electricity Corporation announced on Saturday that the service will stop completely within 24 hours due to a fuel shortage.

The corporation appealed to Sheikh Amr bin Habrish, head of the Hadramout Tribal Alliance, for urgent intervention to provide crude oil to operate the “Petro Masila” station, the only one currently operating with a partial capacity of 65 megawatts, while diesel and mazut stations have stopped completely.

It explained that “Petro Masila” and the solar power station that only operates during the day are the remaining solutions.

The corporation warned that the station will soon stop completely, which will exacerbate the power outage crisis that reaches more than 17 hours a day, causing great damage to hospitals, water stations, and basic services, amid increasing suffering for the population.

It is worth noting that the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition did not pay any attention to the electricity fuel file during the past months, while the tribal alliance in Hadramout province continues to prevent the exit of crude oil tankers outside the province since last August.
