GAZA, Jan. 25 (YPA) – The World Health Organization confirmed that it is working to intensify its relief efforts in the Gaza Strip by distributing fuel, medical equipment and medicines to treat tens of thousands of people who have been living in miserable health conditions for 15 months.
“The World Health Organization has been scaling up its health response since the ceasefire agreement in Gaza,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a post on the X platform last night.
He explained that these resources are sufficient to provide 50,000 patients with special care for motherhood, treatment for trauma, malnutrition and non-communicable diseases, and to improve infection prevention in health facilities, stressing that “conditions in Gaza remain difficult and operations are complex.”
“The World Health Organization has delivered medical supplies from its stocks in Gaza to six hospitals and medical facilities, and to 21 emergency medical teams in the north and south of the Strip, which has received only scant aid since the war began on October 7, 2023, in addition to the destruction of the health infrastructure in Gaza,”he added.
