ADEN, Jan. 23 (YPA) -An economic analyst described officials in the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition as “thieves” due to their failure to pay employees’ salaries for several months.
Majed Al-Daari, journalist and editor-in-chief of the “Observers Press” news website, which is affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council, questioned the fate of a Saudi grant valued at half a billion dollars, which was provided to the Aden Central Bank at the end of December.
He confirmed that the pro-coalition government has not paid the salaries of both civilian and military employees in Aden and other coalition-controlled areas for several months, while the value of the Yemeni riyal continues to collapse against foreign currencies in these regions.
Al-Daari referred to pro-coalition officials as “thieves” who have exhausted local resources and the “pockets of neighboring countries.”
He added that these officials have confused the donors and left citizens in Aden and other southern provinces enduring the worst phase of hunger and begging that Yemen has ever seen.
