Civilians, including children, killed in Syria landmines blast

DAMASCUS, Jan. 16 (YPA) – Five Syrians, including two children, killed due to the explosion of objects from the remnants of war spread across vast geographical areas of Syrian territory, bringing the overall death toll since the fall of the Assad regime on December 8, to 244.

The Syrian Observatory said in a report that the 141 people have been injured during the landmines.

The report affirmed that a Syrian citizen from the village of Al-Buwaytiyah in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor was killed as a result of the explosion of a landmine, while he was herding livestock in the Deir Ezzor desert.

According to the Observatory’s documentation, the number of Syrian civilians who were killed after the fall of the former Syrian regime in various Syrian provinces reached 103 civilians, including 73 men, 21 children, and 9 women, and 141 others were injured, including 76 children and 7 women.

The remnants of war since the fall of the Assad regime on December 8 have posted a constant threat to the lives of residents, especially displaced persons returning to their destroyed villages and former military areas.
