STC threatens to withdraw from coalition-backed Aden government

ADEN, Jan. 16 (YPA) – Head of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) Aidarous al-Zubaidi, threatened to withdraw from the Presidential Leadership Council and the coalition-affiliated Aden government.

Political sources in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, said that the Vice President of the Council” – the head of the STC, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, submitted a letter threatening to withdraw from the government headed by “Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak” affiliated with the Islah Party, in denunciation of the catastrophic conditions in Aden.

The sources explained that the STC may intend to form a mini-government in Aden, away from its partners from the two parties of the General People’s Congress (GPC) and Islah loyal to the coalition, with the goal of managing the affairs of Aden.

“The STC is facing widespread pressure from the southern street, due to the economic collapse, the interruption of salaries, and the lack of electricity service for more than 20 hours a day.”
