New oil leak in Shabwa portends environmental disaster

SAHBWA, Jan. 10 (YPA) – A new oil leak in Radhum district of Shabwa province, which is under the control of the factions loyal to the Emirates, has portended an unprecedented environmental disaster.

Local sources affirmed that the leakage from the crude oil pipeline leading to the Nashima port would lead also to a serious threat to water and agricultural lands, and widespread destruction of marine life on the coasts of Radhum on the Arabian Sea.

The sources pointed out that the local authorities and oil companies have not yet taken the initiative to repair the oil leak from the dilapidated pipeline.

The new oil spill has been the second since last September in the Azzan area of Mayfa’a district in the same province, which raises more concerns among citizens about the dangers of crude oil to their lives and the spread of diseases.
