ALQUDS, Dec. 21 (YPA) – A comprehensive commercial strike was organized on Saturday in the city of Jenin, in the northern West Bank, in protest armed clashes.
Palestine’s sources said the commercial strike came under calls demanding an end to the ongoing crisis in the Jenin camp, which entered its seventeenth day, amid armed clashes between resistance fighters and the Palestinian security services.
The sources reported that the strike expressed the residents’ rejection of the ongoing events that cast a shadow over the city and the camp, and a call to end the tense security situation.
The same sources affirmed that a number of shop owners did not open their shops for fear of their lives, in light of the possibility of the clashes extending from the camp to the city.
For more than two weeks, Jenin camp has witnessed repeated clashes between Palestinian resistance fighters and Palestinian security forces, which has led to a deterioration in the security situation in the region and increased fears of a greater escalation.
