5.6-magnitude earthquake strikes north of Egypt’s Suez

CAIRO, Aug. 03 (YPA) – A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck Egypt’s Suez Governorate early Monday morning, sending shockwaves across Cairo and neighboring provinces, as well as parts of Palestine, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and “Israel.”

According to the head of the earthquake department at Egypt’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), the quake was centered near Suez, approximately 110 kilometers northeast of Cairo.

The Egyptian Red Crescent activated its emergency response plan across affected areas to inspect buildings and monitor the situation.

Meanwhile, Cairo International Airport officials confirmed that operations remain normal and flight schedules were unaffected following safety checks on passenger terminals and facilities.
