Hayat Tahrir al-Sham forms transitional government in Syria

DAMASCUS, Dec. 10 (YPA) – Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, led by Abu Mohammed al-Golani, had declared forming a new transitional government in Syria.

The group, which is listed as a terrorist organization by the United Nations and the United States, said in a statement it had assigned Mohammed al-Bashir as the head of the new government.

In the same context, al-Bashir announced in a televised statement that he was assigned to head the government in Syria, following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Al-Bashir added that a session was held with the previous government to transfer files to his government.

Al-Bashir had held the position of head of the government affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” in Idlib province, northwest Syria, since January 2024.
