Syrian army evacuates most of its positions in Daraa, Sweida governorates

DAMASCUS, Dec. 07 (YPA) – Clashes have renewed between the Syrian army and armed groups along the frontlines in the northern countryside of Homs, In conjunction with concentrated artillery strikes by the army targeting the positions of the armed groups in the area.

Syrian media sources reported yesterday that clashes took place in various areas of the eastern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria, and near the Naseeb border crossing with Jordan, although the militants have not yet entered the crossing complex.

Russian RT channel also reported, citing its correspondent, that attacks occurred on Syrian military security checkpoints in towns in Daraa governorate, including Nawa and Inkhel, which have been vacated by the Syrian army following the 2018 reconciliation agreement.

In response to these developments, Jordan’s Minister of Interior, Mazen Al-Farayah, announced on Friday the closure of the Jaber border crossing, which is opposite the Syrian Naseeb crossing, due to the security situation in southern Syria.
