Armed confrontations break out in Socotra, leave injured

SOCOTRA, Nov. 30 (YPA) – Armed confrontations broke out between members of the Emirati factions in the center of the city of Hadibo, the center of the Socotra Archipelago, east of the Gulf of Aden, leaving at least two people injured, including a civilian.

Informed sources reported that confrontations broke out between members of the UAE-funded Security Belt in Hadibu due to the introduction of a large quantity of “Qat” on a boat into the city, which led to the injury of one of the members, and the injury of a citizen named “Salem Iyad Al-Soqatri” while he was heading to prayer.

The sources confirmed that the faction leader, Muhammad Faghrahi, directed his members to supervise the unloading of “Qat” from one of the boats and provide protection for the sellers, which led to the intervention of other elements charged with combating the entry of qat into the island.

They indicated that Faghrahi receives sums of money in Saudi currency from qat sellers in exchange for securing the sale in shops and private homes.
