Workers at Al-Nashima oil port in Shabwa stage strike over unpaid salaries

SHABWA, Nov. 30 (YPA) – Workers and employees of Sector “4” at the Al-Nashima oil port in Shabwa Governorate announced a strike in protest of not receiving their entitlements for over three consecutive months.

A statement issued by the Al-Nashima Port Workers’ Union on Wednesday confirmed that the delay in salaries for more than three months has severely impacted their livelihoods and the basic needs of their families.

The statement stressed the need to end the violations against the workers and employees of the oil port, calling on the relevant authorities to disburse their financial entitlements and ensure that such delays do not occur again in the future.

The statement explained that the strike was a response to the lack of attention from the sector management, the “Waikom” company, and the government loyal to Saudi-led coalition, which has ignored their demands over the past months.

It also indicated that the employees would not return to work until their salaries were paid and deposited into their accounts.
