About 130,000 children besieged for 50 days in northern Gaza

LONDON, Nov. 26 (YPA) – About 130,000 children under the age of ten have been besieged for 50 days in the northern Gaza Strip, without food or medical supplies, the British organization “Save the Children” said on Monday.

According to the organization, food, water and medicine supplies to children living in northern Gaza and the Gaza Strip provinces have been almost completely cut off since October 6, when Israeli forces declared the area a “closed military area.”

The organization affirmed in a report that the famine in those areas “is either imminent or likely to occur.”

It complained that it had not been able to reach northern Gaza to deliver food parcels to 5,000 families, along with 725 hygiene kits and other supplies, for 7 weeks.

The report said that medical supplies to the area had stopped and “the recent polio vaccination campaign did not reach about 10,000 children in Jabalia, Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun at all.

It pointed out that many families in northern Gaza were trapped because they were unable to flee, either because there were elderly or disabled people, or the lack of alternative options in other parts of Gaza.

The United Nations has warned that the entire population of North Gaza is “at risk of death” for nearly a month, but Israeli forces have repeatedly denied aid groups access to the area.

Save the Children said that Gaza’s children are bearing the brunt of the war. According to the United Nations, about 44% of the martyrs are children.
