AL MUKALLA, Nov. 23 (YPA) – The General Authority of Fisheries (GAF) in the Gulf of Aden, south of Yemen, condemned on Saturday the crimes that the UAE forces and their tools have practiced against fishermen in the Shihr area on the Hadramout coast.
The Authority said in a statement that it received reports that the UAE forces deployed warships off the coast of Hadramout, specifically in the Shihr area, with an intensive deployment of its armed militias in the area in an attempt to restrict the freedom of fishermen in the area.
The statement pointed out that the UAE forces at Al Rayyan Airport summoned their local tools after the fishermen entered the sea overnight, to break the restrictions of the Saudi-Emirati coalition that imposes an arbitrary ban on fishing in the territorial waters of the Arabian Sea.
It affirmed its absolute rejection of all arbitrary measures that the UAE and its tools seek to restrict the freedom of fishermen and prevent them from exercising their right to fish in Yemeni territorial waters.
The statement noted that these actions are in conflict with national and international laws related to the rights of fishermen to practice fishing safely, calling for an end to these violations and the cancellation of illegal restrictions imposed by the Saudi-Emirati coalition.
The coalition-held areas are witnessing major violations and crimes that reach the point of murder, arrests, and torture of all opponents of its policies, including fishermen.
