SHABWA, Nov. 13 (YPA) – Unknown gunmen failed to detonate a liquefied natural gas pipeline near the Balhaf gas facility in the Radhom district of Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.
Local sources reported that the assailants managed to reach the gas pipeline coming from Marib by digging a hole and placing explosives around it, at kilometer 254 between stations “8-9”. However, local residents thwarted the sabotage attempt.
The sources added that the citizens alerted the local authorities in Radhom about the suspicious digging activities, located about 50 km from the Balhaf facility, leading to a raid on the site.
No further details about the incident were provided.
Residents of Shabwa accused the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition along with the local authorities aligned with the UAE, of looting the revenues from natural resources and diverting them into private investments abroad.
Meanwhile, the local population continues to suffer from a lack of basic services, particularly in sectors like education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
