Ex-Israeli general: Israel’s interests lie in ending war in Gaza

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Nov. 13 (YPA) -Giora Eiland, a retired major general of the Israeli occupation forces and the former head of the Israeli National Security Council, said on Tuesday that it is in Israel’s interest to end the war in Gaza.

In an interview with Israeli Channel 12, Eiland stated that the Israeli losses in Gaza have been significant, with 24 soldiers killed and many others seriously injured in the last month alone.

He noted that most of the casualties are young people around 20 years old, and some will remain permanently disabled.

Eiland also pointed to the severe economic difficulties faced by thousands of families in Israel, emphasizing the need for an end to the war.

He emphasized that Hamas would only release Israeli prisoners as part of a comprehensive deal that involves ending the conflict, warning that anyone claiming otherwise is misleading the prisoners’ families.

A few days ago, Hamas leader Osama Hamdan confirmed in an interview with Al-Mayadeen that “it is the Israeli entity that consistently blocks efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement.”
