ADEN, Nov. 12 (YPA) – The government loyal to Saudi-led coalition has been unable to supply diesel fuel to the power plants in Aden, raising concerns of a potential shutdown in the next few hours.
Informed sources within the Aden Electricity Company have confirmed that the power stations are currently running at reduced capacity to meet basic demand. However, the situation is expected to deteriorate, with the risk of a full shutdown of all stations due to the pro-coalition government’s inability to provide the necessary fuel.
The sources explained that a total shutdown of the power stations would lead to a severe electricity crisis, worsening the suffering of residents and exacerbating the already collapsing economy.
This comes amid ongoing appeals and warnings from the Aden Electricity Corporation since October for urgent solutions, with no response from the pro-coalition government or the “Presidential Leadership Council”.
It is also worth noting that the “Petromsila” station, which operates on crude oil, has ceased functioning due to the blockade on fuel shipments from Hadramout and Shabwa to the station.
