Police of Michigan University arrest students during pro-Palestine protest

SANAA, Oct. 26 (YPA) – Michigan State University police arrested five students after a sit-in protest at the Hannah Administration Building, according to the group that organized the protest.

According to a spokesperson for the Freedom Coalition, a Palestinian student advocacy group on campus, the students were sitting in the building to demand a timetable for fully divesting from gun manufacturers for the Zionist occupation, an apology for making false claims about President Jokiewicz’s attendance at a Students for Justice in Palestine protest on October 7, and his attempt to escort a K9 unit through the peaceful gathering.

On Friday, the Freedom Coalition said that 40 students representing the coalition organized a strike at the Michigan State University Board of Trustees meeting and began a sit-in at the building, organizing art projects and holding an educational seminar on divestment.

“They keep telling us they’re powerless, but whatever it takes to get Michigan State University to divest,” Freedom Coalition organizer, Attia Abdul Wasi said.
