Grundberg appeases US in new UN Security Council briefing on Yemen

NEW YORK, Oct. 15 (YPQA) – The UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, presented his briefing on the Yemeni issue to the UN Security Council on Tuesday.

In the briefing, Grundberg reiterated on the importance of the peaceful solution, which he described as the most feasible and achievable path.

“The parties must demonstrate their commitment to peace by taking concrete steps, as Yemen needs unity of purpose at this time more than ever,” he said.

The UN envoy noted that the hopes of the international community depend on resolving conflicts through diplomacy, calling on the Security Council to join forces to stop the bloodshed and support all efforts made to achieve peace in Yemen.

He considered that the military escalation in the Middle East threatens to spiral out of control, noting that concerns are growing about the possibility that part of this escalation will affect Yemen.

Grundberg added that the Yemeni people need continuous and unified international support.

He tried to appease the American side that supports the Israeli occupation by holding Yemen responsible for the attacks on the Israeli-linked ships, without referring to the positions of the United States of America and its allies in supporting the Zionist massacres against the Palestinian people.

Grundberg also ignored the airstrikes that the United States and Britain have launched on Yemen since last February, which have killed 80 people and injured more than 200 others.
