MICHIGAN, Oct. 03 (YPA) – A number of artists filed accusations against Michigan State University of censorship of artists’ activities after the university administration canceled a major artistic concert at the Broad Art Museum on campus.
The concert was canceled due to the presence of an artwork in solidarity with the Palestinian people in the “Diaspora Collage” exhibition hosted by the museum, which includes a number of artists from Puerto Rico.
The ceremony, which was canceled without warning, was dedicated to the opening of a number of exhibitions hosted by the museum; among them are the “Diaspora Collage” exhibition and the “360 Degree View” exhibition.
The director of the Center for Puerto Rican Studies and one of the supervisors of the “Diaspora Collage” exhibition, Yumayra Vasquez, stated that the university administration made radical changes to the exhibition without coordination with its supervisors.
