Israeli deadly attack deprives about 650,000 students of right to education

SANAA, Sept. 09 (YPA) – At least 650,000 students have been deprived of an education as Israeli occupation’s months-long deadly attack and the genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Gaza-based Ministry of Education and Higher Education said in a statement that the Israeli occupation have been depriving 650,000 male and female students of their education since Oct. 7, due to the genocidal war that it’s waging on the Strip.

“The new academic year 2024-2025 begins in the provinces of the homeland at a time when more than 650,000 male and female students are still deprived of attending their schools in the Strip for the second academic year in a row,” the statement.

The raging war the Zionist occupation’s waging on the Gaza Strip, until the end of August 2024, has resulted in the martyrdom of more than 11,500 Palestinian children of school age, and the injury of tens of thousands of children with injuries, physical disabilities and psychological trauma.

According to the ministry’s statement, over 750 employees working in the education field have been martyred and thousands injured. The occupation forces deliberately have targeted dozens of school and administrative buildings, causing 92% of them to go out of service.

The statement called on the United Nations, governments, organizations and international institutions to intervene urgently to protect children in the Gaza Strip from the criminal Israeli occupation and its thirst for their blood and the continued deprivation of their right to security, protection and education.
