ALQUDS, July 14 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation army has reported a sharp increase in the number of suicides since the start of the war in Gaza Strip, adding that thousands of soldiers have stopped serving in combat roles due to mental distress.
Israeli accounts, which circumvent military censorship, said that the soldier’s suicide was the third within a week. It was preceded by another soldier to from the Golani Brigade after he was summoned to the Sde Teiman base from the Gaza Strip, where his personal weapon was confiscated.
The Israeli occupation indicated that the soldier was Sgt. Yuval Shoham, from the Rehovot settlement, south of Tel Aviv, and committed suicide at Sde Teiman, which the occupation used to torture prisoners from the Strip.
Israeli accounts indicated that the military police confiscated Shoham’s weapon after he was summoned for investigation, but he eluded them, pulled out a soldier’s weapon, and shot himself.
Previously, it was announced that reserve soldier Daniel Edri had committed suicide and had participated in the aggression on the Gaza Strip and set himself on fire inside his car in a forest near Safed.
The website confirmed that the occupation forces refused to bury the suicide soldier with a military ceremony, saying, “Daniel Edri celebrated his twenty-fourth birthday, but it was not a happy day.”
