Hadramout local authorities take serious steps against teachers

HADRAMOUT, Aug. 15 (YPA) – The local authorities loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in Hadramout province seek to replace basic teachers with contractors in the valley districts, educational sources reported on Thursday.

According to the sources, the local authorities called on the education offices in the Hadramout valley districts to open the door for employment by contracting with male and female teachers after the Teachers Union announced at the beginning of this August a strike in various schools during the new academic year 2024-2025.

The sources described these steps as dangerous, which will lead teachers to escalate further until their living and employment conditions are corrected.

The Teachers Syndicate had announced a comprehensive strike in all schools of Aden, Hadramout, Shabwa, Lahj, Abyan, and Mahra provinces, without the pro-coalition government responding to the teachers’ demands.
