Ashal’s million-man demonstration refutes STC’s claims of “southern mandate”

ADEN, Aug. 04 (YPA) – Protesters from the southern provinces in the demonstration demanding to reveal the fate of the kidnapped and forcibly disappeared Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani held Saturday in Aden city dropped the claims of “mandate” from the southern street to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

As they arrived at the parade square in the Khor Maksar area, demonstrators from Aden and the southern provinces removed pictures of the STC’s president, Aidaroos al-Zubaidi, from buildings and main streets after they were exposed to gunfire from gunmen from his factions.

The participants in the demonstration described the suppression of the demonstrators and their dispersal with live bullets as “occupation and terrorism,” which resulted in two deaths and five injuries, in addition to the kidnapping of a large number of demonstrators demanding the release of the abductees and those forcibly disappeared from the STC prisons.

The leader of the “Southern Resistance” and one of the notables of Shabwa province, Salem Abu Zaid Al-Khulaifi, confirmed that the STC leaders suppressed the demonstrators for fear of withdrawing the southern mandate in the Ashal million-man demonstration, demanding the disclosure of his fate since last June.

Al-Khulaifi reported that these leaders tried by armed force to prevent citizens from participating in the Ashal demonstration, indicating that what he called “thug leaders” were the ones who withdrew the so-called “mandate” from Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi.
