US approves $2.8 billion military sale to Saudi Arabia

WASHINGTON, July 24 (YPA) – The US State Department accepted a $2.8 billion military sale to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

This came according to a statement issued by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which oversees arms sales to foreign governments within the US Department of Defense (the Pentagon).

The statement stated that the deal, which includes elements of a military “logistical and sustainable support system, was approved, and the necessary certification was submitted to Congress.

“This approved sale will increase the security of Saudi Arabia, the allied country that constitutes a force for political stability and economic progress in the Gulf region, and will also support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States,” the statement added.
